Prime Minister Masrour Barzani highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s efforts to create a favorable environment for investors. He emphasized that the KRG continues to implement economic reforms to boost growth and diversify sources of income. Barzani said the region welcomes foreign investors and aims to provide legal clarity, stability, and incentives to support long-term investment.
Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry expressed his country’s interest in expanding commercial relations with the Kurdistan Region. He said Kuwait is keen to explore new areas of cooperation and strengthen trade links. Al Ajeel also welcomed continued dialogue between business communities and government institutions.
Relations between the Kurdistan Region and Kuwait have steadily improved in recent years. Economic and trade cooperation has become a key focus of bilateral ties. Kuwaiti companies have increased their interest in investing in the Kurdistan Region, especially in construction, energy, trade, and service sectors.
The KRG has repeatedly underlined the importance of strengthening relations with Gulf countries. Officials view Kuwait as a strategic partner due to its economic experience, strong investment capacity, and long-standing support for stability in Iraq. The Kurdistan Region sees deeper cooperation with Kuwait as part of its broader strategy to diversify economic partnerships.
Meetings held during international events such as the World Economic Forum have played an important role in advancing these relations. Such gatherings provide a platform for direct dialogue, help identify shared interests, and open new channels for cooperation between Erbil and Kuwait.
Officials say continued engagement will help translate political understanding into concrete economic projects. Both sides expressed optimism about the future of Kurdistan Kuwait investment ties and the role of the private sector in strengthening economic relations.
