Oil production has resumed at the Taq Taq oil field in the Kurdistan Region after nearly two years of halt. This restart represents an important step to boost local oil output and support energy needs. Authorities plan to gradually increase production in the coming months as they develop the field’s infrastructure.

The halt had followed the suspension of Kurdish oil exports through Turkey’s global port. Now, the managing company has restarted operations. They are restoring the field’s capacity and improving facilities to maximize output. This effort strengthens both energy security and local economic stability.

Aso Mustafa, deputy of Taq Taq, said, “A company is developing the field to raise production soon. We are taking all measures to ensure maximum oil output.” His statement shows the region’s commitment to steady energy supplies and stronger production.

Historically, the Taq Taq field produced between 66,000 and 130,000 barrels per day from 2011 to 2016. After a sharp decline, current operations target about 8,000 barrels per day. Officials stress that production will rise steadily as development continues.

This restart is part of broader efforts to strengthen the Kurdistan Region’s energy sector. Authorities are improving multiple oil fields to ensure stable production. These steps will support economic growth and provide reliable energy for local and export markets.

As the field develops, production at Taq Taq will expand further. Authorities aim to gradually increase daily output. With careful planning, the Kurdistan Region hopes to maintain a consistent oil supply and meet both domestic and international demand.
