The Kurdistan Region’s new electronic payment platform has handled 25,000 electricity bills since launch, according to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). The system, known as E-Psûle, offers a 20 percent discount to citizens who pay their electricity bills digitally.
In a major step toward digital governance, thousands of residents across the Kurdistan Region have started using the platform. The rapid adoption marks one of the fastest rollouts of a public service payment system in recent years.
Additionally, Aziz Ahmad, Deputy Head of the Office of the Prime Minister, confirmed the figures. He said that since Prime Minister Masrour Barzani officially launched the new electronic payment platform E-Psûle project, the system has processed a total of 25,000 electricity bills.
Moreover, Ahmad explained that the KRG introduced the 20 percent discount to encourage subscribers to switch to digital payments. He added that E-Psûle is designed exclusively for paying public service bills online. The platform operates through banks licensed by the Central Bank of Iraq, ensuring secure and regulated transactions.
Therefore, the official launch ceremony took place on Feb. 10, 2026. It was attended by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Ali Al-Alaq, Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq. The event also brought together investors, business owners, and bank representatives.
On the day of the launch, Masrour Barzani described E-Psûle as the Kurdistan Regional Government’s official platform for bill payments. He said citizens can now pay their electricity bills within seconds through a secure system without extra fees. He also announced that more public services will soon be added to the platform.
With 25,000 bills already processed in just a few days, E-Psûle is quickly becoming a central gateway for digital public payments in the Kurdistan Region. The strong early response signals growing public confidence in digital financial services and government-led technology initiatives.
