The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has officially launched the e-Psûle digital payment platform, marking a major step toward modernizing government services. Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani attended the launch ceremony, alongside Ali Al-Allaq, Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, and a group of investors and business leaders from across the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
Additionally, the e-Psûle digital payment platform is a unified system developed and fully owned by the KRG. It allows citizens to pay government bills electronically at any time. The platform operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Importantly, it charges no fees or commissions to users.
Moreover, officials said the e-Psûle digital payment platform aims to replace outdated cash-based payment systems. For decades, citizens relied on office visits and physical cash to settle bills. This process often caused long queues, delays, and high administrative costs. As demand for faster services increased, the old system became inefficient and costly.
Therefore, the e-Psûle digital payment platform enables citizens to view and pay bills instantly through mobile applications, digital wallets, and partner banks. The system issues digital receipts immediately and stores them securely for future use. This process improves transparency and reduces errors linked to manual payments.
Furthermore, the platform initially integrates with the Ministry of Electricity. Runaki electricity bills are now available online through e-Psûle. Additionally, officials prioritized the electricity sector due to its high demand and daily use by households and businesses.
In addition, KRG officials stressed that the e-Psûle digital payment platform is citizen-centric. Users control every transaction. The system makes no automatic deductions from bank accounts or wallets. All payments require direct user approval, ensuring security and trust.
Therefore, the Central Bank of Iraq has officially approved the platform. This approval confirms that the system meets national security and regulatory standards.
Beyond convenience, the e-Psûle digital payment platform supports economic efficiency. Government entities receive funds faster, usually within 72 hours. Digital reporting reduces paperwork and limits cash handling. Officials expect the platform to strengthen financial transparency and support long-term digital transformation in the Kurdistan Region.
