The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has added the Iraqi Islamic Bank to its e-Psûle digital payment platform. As a result, citizens can now pay electricity bills through the bank while benefiting from special discounts.

According to an official statement, Iraqi Islamic Bank becomes the seventh strategic partner in the system. It joins AsiaPay, FastPay, FIB, NassWallet, ZainCash, and Cihan Bank. Therefore, the expansion strengthens digital financial services across the Kurdistan Region and gives users more flexibility when managing utility payments.

Customers of Iraqi Islamic Bank can now access e-Psûle through the bank’s mobile application and online portal. This integration simplifies transactions. In addition, it supports the government’s push toward cashless public services. Officials say the move will accelerate digital adoption and reduce reliance on traditional payment methods.

Moreover, the KRG introduced a limited-time incentive to encourage wider use of the platform. Until March 12, household electricity subscribers who use e-Psûle through participating banks or electronic wallets will receive a 20% discount on electricity bills or outstanding electricity loans. This measure aims to boost participation and increase digital transactions across the region.

The platform officially launched on February 10 under the supervision of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. It operates as the government’s sole authorized digital payment gateway. Furthermore, the Central Bank of Iraq has licensed the system, ensuring regulatory compliance and financial oversight.

The KRG designed e-Psûle to streamline public payment procedures. It also aims to improve transparency in revenue collection and enhance convenience for citizens. By consolidating payments into one secure platform, authorities expect faster processing times and clearer financial tracking.

Officials emphasized that the continued addition of financial institutions reflects growing confidence in the system. Each new partnership expands access to secure digital tools and strengthens the overall payment ecosystem. Consequently, more citizens can complete government-related transactions through trusted banking channels.

The inclusion of Iraqi Islamic Bank marks another step in the KRG’s broader strategy to modernize public services. Through secure digital solutions, the government seeks to improve efficiency, encourage financial inclusion, and promote long-term economic modernization in the Kurdistan Region.
