The Iraqi Oil Ministry has indicated that there is no major disagreement between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) regarding the resumption of oil exports. However, several key points remain unresolved, which both parties aim to address soon. The spokesperson for the Ministry emphasized that productive discussions on the matter are expected to continue in the coming days.

Efforts are focused on implementing the necessary budget amendments to facilitate the resumption of oil exports through the pipeline to Turkey. The Iraqi Oil Ministry reiterated its commitment to ensuring that this process is handled swiftly and responsibly.

The issue of exporting oil from the Kurdistan Region is seen as being in the best interest of the Iraqi people, which has prompted both the federal government and the KRG to prioritize this matter. The goal is to resume exports as quickly as possible.

On February 2, 2025, the Iraqi parliament approved a key amendment to the national budget law, allowing for the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, which had been suspended since 2023. According to the amendment, the transportation cost of oil from the region is set at $16 per barrel. However, disagreements remain over the terms of previous loans and guarantees, and an international consultant is expected to determine the final pricing structure within the next two months.
