The Iraqi government has distributed additional wheat funds to farmers in the Kurdistan Region. The Sulaymaniyah Silo Directorate confirmed the details of the latest fund allocation to the region’s provinces. These payments aim to support local farmers and strengthen wheat production across Kurdistan.
Therefore, these funds are part of Iraq’s Ministry of Trade’s fourth tranche, totaling 500 billion dinars, approved on November 20. The government continues to prioritize timely payments to help farmers sustain operations and meet national wheat demand.
Earlier this week, 24.25 billion dinars were deposited into the account of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Finance and Economy. This latest deposit boosts the total wheat funds available for distribution and ensures that farmers receive their due payments without delays.
So far, the Iraqi government has provided wheat money to the Kurdistan Region three times. The first payment was 57 billion dinars, followed by 15.5 billion dinars, and now 24.25 billion dinars. In total, farmers have received 96 billion 750 million dinars from the Iraqi government this year.
Furthermore, farmers in the Kurdistan Region delivered 400,000 tons of wheat this year, valued at over 320 billion dinars. This means that around 224 billion dinars remain with the Iraqi government for future wheat payments. The funds are essential for maintaining wheat production and supporting farmers’ livelihoods.
Moreover, Nasrin Ahmed, Director of the Sulaymaniyah Silo, explained the distribution of the latest 24.25 billion dinars. Sulaymaniyah received 9.5 billion dinars, Erbil received 7.75 billion dinars, and Duhok received 7 billion dinars. The allocation reflects the government’s commitment to fair and transparent support for all provinces in the Kurdistan Region.
Therefore, the continued delivery of wheat and timely distribution of funds highlight the Iraqi government’s dedication to farmers. These wheat funds enable local farmers to maintain production, meet regional and national demand, and strengthen Iraq’s agricultural sector.
