The Halabja weekly farmers market will launch this Friday and continue each Friday in August. The market will open from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Star Mahmood, Director General of Agriculture in Halabja, confirmed the announcement. He said the market will offer a new space for farmers to sell directly to customers.

More than 100 farmers from across Halabja Province will take part. They will display a wide range of seasonal fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural goods.

The Halabja weekly farmers market is organized by the Directorate of Agriculture in Halabja. The World Islamic Relief Organization is also supporting the event.

This week’s market will serve as a pilot experience. Organizers aim to assess community interest and product demand. If the response is strong, the market could continue beyond August.

Mahmood explained that the event helps farmers earn fair prices by cutting out intermediaries. Customers also benefit from direct access to fresh, locally grown goods.

Organizers selected a central and accessible location for the event. The market space is designed to handle large crowds and provide a clean, welcoming environment.

In future weeks, the market may also include honey, dairy products, and traditional crafts. These additions could further promote Halabja’s rural economy.

The Halabja weekly farmers market supports sustainable farming and strengthens food security. It also builds trust between producers and the public.

Officials encourage both residents and tourists to attend. Buying directly from local farmers helps support the region’s economy and preserve agricultural traditions.

This market marks an important step toward improving local food systems in Halabja. The Directorate hopes this initiative will continue to grow in the weeks ahead.
