Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw met with a foreign construction company on Thursday, July 24, 2025, to discuss a new initiative. The meeting focused on the Erbil road improvement project, which aims to enhance road quality across the province using modern techniques.

Governor Khoshnaw, along with engineers from the provincial and roads departments, attended the session. Their goal was to explore cost-effective and high-quality alternatives for road paving and maintenance. The meeting marked a significant step toward sustainable infrastructure development in Erbil.

The foreign company specializes in advanced asphalt and repair technologies. During the presentation, company representatives outlined a detailed plan. Their proposal included fast implementation, reduced costs, and improved durability. According to the Erbil Governorate’s official statement, the company’s work model focuses on long-term benefits and efficiency.

Governor Khoshnaw responded positively to the proposal. He emphasized the need to improve road networks in Erbil to ease traffic and support urban growth. The governor instructed the engineering teams to evaluate the company’s offer thoroughly.

He also stressed the importance of adapting the project to Erbil’s specific climate and environmental conditions. Testing will be the next phase before any agreement is finalized.

The Erbil road improvement project reflects broader efforts by the Kurdistan Regional Government to modernize infrastructure. With population growth and increased vehicle traffic, Erbil’s roads require urgent upgrades. Officials believe that international expertise can help address these challenges.

Moreover, this proposal aligns with the government’s policy of partnering with specialized firms for critical development sectors. Authorities will proceed carefully, ensuring high standards and sustainability.

If approved, the Erbil road improvement project could serve as a model for similar initiatives across the region. It would also signal Erbil’s openness to innovation and international collaboration in public service delivery.
