Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani announced a 20% discount on electricity bills. He also confirmed that the Kurdistan Region will have 24-hour electricity supply by this summer. The announcement came during the official launch of the E-Psule electronic billing system on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
The launch ceremony took place in the presence of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. Ali Al-Allaq, Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, also attended the event. Many investors and business owners from the Kurdistan Region and Iraq were present. Officials described the project as a key step toward modern public services. They said it will improve payment efficiency.
During the event, Prime Minister Barzani said citizens will receive a 20% discount. The offer applies to anyone who pays electricity bills through the E-Psule platform. The discount will remain valid for the next 30 days. He said the move encourages digital payments. It also helps reduce pressure on households during winter.
Barzani also announced a faster timeline for the Runaki project. The project was scheduled for completion at the end of 2026. It will now finish by this summer. Once completed, it will provide uninterrupted electricity across the Kurdistan Region.
The Prime Minister explained that the Runaki project depends on actual consumption data. Smart meters support the system. Improved regulation also plays a role. In a short time, the project has delivered continuous power to most areas. Barzani said electricity costs rose due to cold weather and higher usage. However, he stressed that tariffs remain unchanged.
The Runaki project is one of the Ninth Cabinet’s main strategic initiatives. Authorities launched it to solve electricity problems that lasted over 30 years. The project combines smart technology with organized distribution. Officials say this approach will improve reliability, cut waste, and raise service quality.
Officials added that E-Psule and Runaki reflect broader reform efforts. The government aims to modernize infrastructure. It also seeks stronger energy management. The goal is stable electricity for all residents.
