The Directorate of Agriculture in Duhok has announced a substantial increase in cucumber cultivation across the region, reflecting growing domestic agricultural engagement. According to official data, approximately 9,192 dunams of land have been cultivated with cucumbers in Duhok and its surrounding areas, supported by nearly 5,000 plastic greenhouses.

Greenhouse cucumbers began ripening in mid-April, while open-field varieties are currently in the early stages of harvest. The region anticipates a total yield of around 105,000 tons of cucumbers for this agricultural season.

Officials attribute this development to continued governmental support for agriculture within the Kurdistan Region. The sector has seen increased interest from local producers, driven by improved market access and better pricing conditions. Previously undervalued, cucumber prices have seen a marked improvement, encouraging further investment in agricultural production.
