The Kurdistan Region has taken a major step in modern education. The Ministry of Education announced the launch of the “My School” project in cooperation with the Kurdistan Foundation. The project introduces artificial intelligence, animation, and virtual laboratories into classrooms across the region.
Therefore, this major step places the Kurdistan Regional Government at the forefront of educational innovation in the Middle East. Officials say it is the first government in the region to fully adopt such a system. As a result, smart boards are replacing traditional blackboards. Teaching methods are also shifting toward digital and interactive learning.
Moreover, the importance of artificial intelligence in Kurdistan education is growing. The new system improves student understanding and supports teachers with modern tools. Lessons are presented through animation and interactive content. This helps students focus more and learn faster.
Additionally, a key feature of the project is digital laboratories. These virtual labs allow students to conduct chemistry and physics experiments safely inside classrooms. Students can practice scientific activities without risk and at a lower cost. This also reduces pressure on schools that lack physical lab equipment.
The Ministry of Education has already started expanding the project. It is currently active in 250 classrooms at the Barzani Nimer Education Complex. Next year, the ministry plans to extend the system to 1,000 schools across the Kurdistan Region. To support this expansion, the ministry is installing smart boards in classrooms as part of an ongoing process.
Minister of Education Alan Hama Saeed confirmed the government’s commitment to this transformation. He said the Kurdistan Region is leading the region in using artificial intelligence in education. According to him, the system combines animation and virtual reality laboratories, making scientific lessons easier and more practical for students.
During the announcement, the minister also addressed other education-related issues. He said 600 substitute teachers have been appointed to replace contracted teachers who resigned. In addition, the ministry is closely following the Duhok schoolgirl case and is waiting for the final court decision to determine responsibility.
Overall, artificial intelligence in Kurdistan education marks a major shift toward modern learning. The project reflects the government’s focus on technology, safety, and quality education for future generations.
